Lent @ St John’s
Lent is an opportunity to reflect on the work and person of Jesus Christ.
We invite you to join us in reading through Mark’s Gospel, setting aside time to read, pray, and reflect on passages each weekday.
There is a little Gospel of Mark and a booklet with reading schedule and meditation prompts, which you can use at any time of the day, but it has been designed with the morning in mind. We invite you to join us on a Zoom call, Monday through Friday mornings, starting at 7 am for around 20 minutes. We will read the passage, have a short period of reflection and pray together.
The Zoom can be accessed via the QR code.
Gospels of Mark and Reading Plan available at church.
Let’s open up the word together and anchor ourselves in it.
During Lent
Lent is the time leading up to Easter (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Day), when we think about Jesus’ sacrifice for us. It’s a time for prayer, thoughtful reflection and spiritual growth.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which is on the 18th February this year. There will be an Ash Wednesday service, with the signing with ash and holy communion at 7:30 pm, to which all are welcome.
At St John’s this year, we are inviting everyone to engage in one Lent Course together! Starting from Wednesday, 25th February, 7:30 pm in church.
Lent Course: Journey to the Cross, exploring the places in Israel that Jesus visited in Holy Week. With special guest speaker from CMJ UK.
Dates: Wednesdays, 25th Feb - 25th March, 5 weeks
Time: 7:30 pm - 9 pm
